Donating blood is literally giving the gift of life. Each day, the NYBlood Center needs close to 2000 people a day to roll up their sleeves to give the gift of life. There is simply no substitute for voluntary donated blood. Without volunteer donors, our community would not have an adequate community blood supply. 4 million Americans benefit from life-saving transfusions sometime during their lifetime.
The North Flatbush Avenue Business Improvement District teamed up with the New York Blood Center and hosted a Blood Drive on Friday, August 28 from 2:30pm to 7:30pm. Co-sponsored by CRUNCH, HEALTHY NIBBLES and KINGS PHARMACY. By the end of the cold and rainy day, the BID reached their goal of volunteers. Each volunteer blood donor walked away with complimentary tote bags filled with free 1 month Crunch memberships, power bars, t-shirts, bottled water , organic juices and discount coupons from our local merchants. Burrito Bar and Kitchen offered a coupon for a free Marguerita! We want to thank the NYBlood Center for proviing us with a quality professional medical team and Staff. Giving blood was painless and anxiety free! Did you know that you can donate blood every 56 days? Please join us at our next blood drive on Saturday, December 12, 2009 from 2:30PM to 7:30PM in front of KINGS PHARMACY and gift the gift of life. Become a Volunteer Blood Donor...
View photos of Our 2nd Annual Earth Day Celebration in the Pacific Street Bears Community Garden. Neighborhood children gathered to learn to paint with vegetable and fruit stencils, learned to plant with seedlings and decorate their own reusable canvas tote bags, facepainting, story telling and composting education. Each member got to take home their own fir tree - graciously donated by ArborDay.org.
